Rock climbers scale the sides. Scientists work in the rock laboratories sometimes peering out portholes in the rock.
Artists colonies and writer’s dens inhabit the rock caves. Libraries lie within the stones. Volumes may be checked out one at a time for reading or read within the stone reading room where sun cascades through the glass rock.

“This is the best time to try the rapids,” the Guide says. “In two weeks it will be much too dangerous.”
