Piles of junky treasures wobble in the wasteland Worthless. Dust billows between the stacks. Clouds gather, darken the sky, and burst. Lightening strikes the tallest stacks. Thunder booms. Rain torrents. Rust forms. Parts break. Paper wilts, withers, and tears.
The items dry, crack, and fall into smaller bits of nothing. Things become garbage. Scavenger rats multiply here. Wickedly intelligent, perhaps. But who would know, except for their evident success in survival?
They crawl from tower to tower wrapping the goods in their tails, crossing runways of discarded glass, and tunneling into the Worthless stacks.
The Indignant city of rats rises in Worthless. The rats gather Worthless objects and make them useful. Beneath the sprawling junk of Indignant lies a well-designed city of tunnels, mazes, and nests. It appears chaotic but manifests into the most remarkable and comfortable city for the rats.
"It's amazing what the Indignant rat-tons can do!" says Miss Emeline Traveler. "There are hidden delights."
"We innovate to improve our lives and fill them with satisfaction," says the Guide. "We work together and no one takes orders. When we meet other lands we often appoint a spokesperson, but the authoritarian structures of some places puzzle us."
