Ice walkers live on the ice continent Jealousy overlooking the Cold Sea where the ring of ice Cold Jealousy lies surrounded by whales and topped by the bare rock of Indignant. The ice walkers, unsheltered, turn into pillars at night to preserve heat. In daytime, they roam among bears, seals, and sea birds. Ice crevasses open within the flat continent when temperatures warm. They crackle and snap. Visitors come to see the bears, seals, and whales and the springtime beauty of the blue sparkling ice.
“The air is crisp and pure. The seas are bright and clear,” they tell their friends.
The ice walkers speak a quiet language which most cannot hear. They draw patterns in the ice, stories to them, but incomprehensible to scientists from other lands.
