Mayor Scuba Danson presides over the seaside town of Presque Vu in Jamais Vu. He comes to all holiday events with his entourage. Every business owner — of the sweetshop, diner, and kite shop— joins the Presque Vu Chamber of Commerce. They walk along wooden sidewalks.
Flags flutter from the street signs symbolizing holidays: the kite festival, the taffy weekend, the summer celebration, and so on.
Presque Vu reminds visitors of places they have been before. The denizens speak a strange language, easily understood, but unfamiliar. Usually one asks for taffy, a coffee, or a kite. Visitors ask:
“Which way to the beach?"
"How is the weather?"
"Is it expected to rain?”
