The underground capitol, Addled, rests on a giant mushroom, a home for caterpillars and moths. The caterpillars’ chrysalides hang under the mushroom gills. The steeply-domed mushroom cap criss-crosses with paths where the denizens live in a soft sponge world.
They roam between their homes and farms while the caterpillars walk above them and the moths fly over.
The denizens know only their land and don’t understand when visitors recoil asking, “Why are they so nervous?”
When not farming, the denizens dabble in various arts and hobbies. No one esteems their work. There are no famous artist or musicians among them. They produce no notable works. They inhale the mushroom spores which cause them to live distracted, but long and untroubled lives.
